Coaching Philosophy
erWe believe that competition presents challenges similar to those that every person might one day face throughout life. Although these challenges may be on a smaller scale, the ways in which we overcome them and the lessons that we learn from them are the same. RRCHS athletic coaches are dedicated to developing Christian character through sports. We strive to promote working together in oneness, to conquer fears, to overcome obstacles, to look for opportunity for personal growth and perspective in loss, and for humility and opportunity for good in victory.
Coaches will hold themselves and their players to the highest standards of character and will:
Proverbs 22:1 -- "A good name is to be more desired than great riches; favor is better than silver and gold."
Being a participant in the RRCHS athletic program does not guarantee equal play time in regular season games. Play time will be up to the discretion of the coach and will be guided by skill level, work ethic, team needs, and attitude. With only 8 full time positions available at the varsity level, player tryouts may be utilized by the coaches to determine which players will be awarded those positions.
Coaches will hold themselves and their players to the highest standards of character and will:
- Create an atmosphere for athletics where participants have the opportunity to compete at the highest level possible. Coaches will encourage each player to play relentlessly, selflessly, and thoughtfully.
- Treat opponents, officials, opposing coaches and fans graciously and respectfully.
- Value honorable character traits and a good reputation. Character overcomes talent in the long run.

About Our Coaches
The Red River coaches are not paid; they are volunteers. Our coaches have full time jobs and families and various other responsibilities. They often take vacation time from their work and personal time away from their families to coach our teams.
Please display your appreciation for their sacrifices by staying flexible and treating the coaches with respect. As such, we expect our players and families to exhibit Christ-like behavior in all of their interactions with our coaching staff.
Coaching staff will be required to have a background check completed.
